One of our Trustees, Ceinwen, spoke at a fringe event at the Conservative Party Conference on 8th October 2012. Organised by 2020 Health, a health-focused think tank, Ceinwen sat on a panel with Ciaran Devine, Chief Executive of Macmillan, Camilla Cavendish, Associate Editor at the Times, and Charles Elphicke, MP for Dover and Deal. Ceinwen spoke about her experience as a cancer patient and the importance of ensuring that patients remain at the centre of the care offered by the NHS. The event was well attended (considering George Osborne was speaking at the same time!) and covered a range of topics including the role of working cultures in promoting (and hindering) improvements in patient care and experience. Overall, the day was a great way to increase knowledge about Shine and to meet others active in the cancer care sector.
